We had to leave Clerwater Springs Ranch this morning for a 460 km drive to Hope.
It was very hard leaving as Sandie and Neil had looked after us so well. Neil even supplied us with a few cookies for our journey, they came in very handy, thanks.
We had a quick stop at Spahats Falls before leaving Clearwater. The falls had carved an impressive 122 meter deep canyon.
I had chosen a scenic route that took us through an area of lakes on a quite road.
We then turned on to Hwy 97 to head south and I noticed that the sat nav said the next turn was left in 291 km. Not much chance of getting lost!
We passed through Clinton, still a cowboy town and originally called Junction as it straddled two wagon roads.
The strange names "Mile House" refer to communities a certain mileage from Lillooet on the original wagon road to the Cariboo Gold Fields.
A hardware store to challenge Barnitts in York.
As we approached Cache Creek in the heart of desert country it became less green and quite warm, 30 C at this point.
The road then took us down the Frazer Canyon. This point is called Hells Gate, the canyon walls rise 1000 meters above the Frazer River.
The Frazer River
Alexander Suspension Bridge on the original Cariboo Wagon Road.
Slightly different lodgings for tonight.
The Park Motel in Hope on 4th Avenue!
