Hope we will be back some day.

What an amazing time we have had in Canada. The weather has been just superb and the people friendly and service has always been with a smile.

Molson Canadian Lager Beer has kept me sane while doing this blog but is probably the reason for any spelling mistakes!

We have survived the dangers of Canada.

We probably had trouble spotting bears in the Rockies as we have been carrying bear spray and I think they must have been able to read the label. We spoke to a French lady who had tried it out on Mosquitos and said it was very effective. She was lovely but a little crazy!

A few hours to fill in before heading to the airport.

See you all soon.

Another relaxing day!

Woke up to another clear blue sky over Vancouver and we planned to have a relaxing day as our efforts up to now had failed. (Probably due to my list of must do's).

We sheltered from the sun under a killer whale for a while.

Walking past the marina again. Just such a contrast with the power boats, colourful house boats and modern buildings behind.

Totem poles in Stanley Park near the start of 8.8km sea wall walk.

Girl in a wetsuit statue. To remind Vancouver of how important the sea is to the city.

Lions Gate Bridge.

Prospect Point Lookout.

I had been promising Hazel an ice cream for 3 weeks and today was her lucky day.

Can you see the happiness on that face.

As we passed third beach we decided it was time to relax. Within seconds of laying out in the sun we were both asleep.

I then decided to go for a little dip. Refreshing!

After several well earned hours chilling on the beach it was time to complete the sea wall walk.

No particular meaning to this picture I just like it.

Paths cross again.

This morning we made our way to North Vancouver and visited Lynn Canyon.

We had to walk over a 50 meter high suspension bridge that gave us lovely views down to the canyon floor. Hazel is taking a few tentative steps at the far end!

We walked upstream to visit the 30 foot pool were younger, braver (or foolish) people played in the freezing cold water.

After a spot of sun bathing Hazel considers diving in to the freezing 30 foot pool!

We than had to return our car to Downtown Vancouver after travelling over 3200km in it. It will be sadly missed, only because we are going to have to walk now! One thing you could say was that it was a comfortable car for our journey.

A steam powered clock in Gastown. Gastown is where the city began.

Gassy Jack, the statue not Hazel. Gassy Jack was born in Hull and became a Canadian bar owner. He had a bar built by local saw mill workers for free after offering them all the whiskey they could drink in one sitting. His was the only bar for 25 miles. Gastown is named after him.

Canada Place cruise ship terminal that also offers great views of the city.

Float plane harbour. Great just watching the planes take off and land.

Strange reflections in the building widows.

As the sun went down we met with Susanne and Klaus who we had first met at Clearwater and had spent a day with exploring Wells Grey Provincial Park. Hard to think that it was just over a week ago and we had done so much since then. Our travels had taken us in opposite directions but we had worked out that our paths would cross again in Vancouver. We had a wonderful evening together exchanging stories and photographs.

The last resort...

Sad today at having to leave Painters Lodge. We could have done with an extra day just to sit by the pool in the sun and relax.

We passed a field of bison on our way so that put me off bison burger for tea!

Waiting for the ferry Hazel got out her holiday crocs thinking she was in Greece.

Vancouver starts to appear and at this point I'm having doubts about staying here after such quite places we have stayed.

Both much happier once we check in and Hazel looks fine with B & B choice.

Robson Street Vancouver, a bit of a change from what we have been used to.

Vancouver is not looking bad at all.

And it even has a beach. Actually has a few.
Think we may get on just fine.

Even another animal to add to our wildlife list. It was in the garden of our B & B and I did have to corner it for this photo with Hazel saying oh be careful!

Bring on the bears.

Another lovely morning in Canada. Well at least on the east coast of Vancouver Island.

We travelled by boat from Campbell River to a remote inlet on the mainland.

At last! Guess what we have seen. BEARS.

In the bushes at the other side of the stream are two grizzlies eating salmon. They hide well!

Very pleased to have finally seen bears. Then comes the news that there is a mother with three cubs a little way down the river.

Fantastic seeing the bears but then to spoil us on the way home the skipper manages to find us a pod of approximately 150 pacific white sided dolphins. If you have ever tried to photograph a dolphin you will appreciate how difficult these photos were to take.

What a day, I think we will sleep well tonight.
