Across the sea.

Hazel trying to grab some sun but I caught her!

Othello Tunnels, a walk through former railway tunnels. Spectacular scenery and some scenes for Rambo (First Blood) were filmed here.

Hope (we called it the town of motels) turned out to be a nice little town and we wished we had a little longer to wander around. It is known as the Chainsaw Carving Capital because of giant wooden sculptures that were carved by local artists.

We had dashed to catch a ferry from the mainland to Vancouver Island. Hazel opted to stay in the sheltered viewing area while I went outside as I had been told that there was a good chance of seeing whales or dolphins, but I saw none! Apparently some dolphins had appeared on the other side of the ship but I missed them!

A passing ferry going from Vancouver Island to the mainland.

When we arrived on Vancouver Island we visited Butchart Gardens. Even though it had started raining just before we arrived (and by strange coincidence stopped when we left) the gardens were stunning.

We then made our way to our next destination Victoria.
That night as we returned to our B & B we came across a raccoon on the grass next to the footpath. I was very pleased to see some wildlife at long last!
